According to the Wall Street Journal, the book describes how IBM was initially commissioned by Sony to develop the PS3 processor, but before the project ended, it used some of the technology it had developed for the processor in IBM`s work for Microsoft on the Xbox without Sony knowing. While Sony was apparently aware that the technology developed by IBM would continue to be used in other consoles and applications, it seems to have been surprised to learn that IBM was using the technology before concluding the work for Sony. An example of a possible solution to the issue of technological property would be to find that inventions produced as a result of work on the contract exclusively by an employee or employee of Partner A are the property of Partner A; Inventions designed during the term of the contract exclusively by an employee or employee of Partner B are the property of Partner B.
