In Australia, copyright applies to most materials 70 years after the end of the year of the creator`s death or 70 years after the end of the year in which the material was first published. Documents protected 70 years after the first publication include works published for the first time anonymously or under a pseudonym (the author cannot be identified), works published for the first time after the death of the Creator, sounds and recorded films made since May 1, 1969. There are shorter protection periods (50 years from manufacture or 50 years from first publication) for materials produced or published first for a Commonwealth or Land Government authority or authority.
